The duffle bag has been the work horse of expeditions and adventures for years.

Alongside the established brands, we are really happy to be bringing to you a more lightweight option in the Duffler, a new brand from Scandinavia that we are delighted to be partnering with to bring over to the UK.

We love this bag, it is thoughtfully constructed, with a soft lining and an outer that repels water and high quality fastenings. It also packs down into its own pouch. A great feature is that it is equally at home supporting the urban explorer, the weekend expeditioner or as part of the kit for professional safety and security teams.

One of our full time staff, Drew Cook, is an adventurer, explorer and mountaineer who has spearheaded expeditions around the globe. We caught up with him to find out why he chooses the Duffler every time he travels.

Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do.
My name is Drew Cook, and I work with 1st Option Safety Group. I’m a qualified Tech IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), Mountaineer, IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) Rope Access Specialist & Mountain Guide, specializing in Health & Safety Personnel Management in remote & hazardous locations. My work includes ITN & BBC ‘Frozen Planet’ in Antarctica, Discovery Channel ‘Everest Rescue’ in the Himalaya & Sky Drama ‘Fortitude’ in Svalbard. I’ve previously managed Health & Safety in seismic operations in Papua New Guinea, Iraq, Libya & across the Middle East. In a previous life, I have traversed the African continent many times, been the first human to have explored certain regions of the Antarctic never previously visited, worked as a Safari Guide and established and set up remote and bespoke commercial adventures such as African Western Lowland Gorilla Tracking Trips. I am an avid road cyclist, yogaist and pioneer of many 1st ascents of previously unclimbed 6000/6500m Himalayan mountains.

I’m currently away on the 2018 British Mulung Tokpo Expedition on an exploratory mountaineering expedition to the Northern Indian Himalayan territory of Zanskar to reconnoitre the Upper Mulung Tokpo Valley and make 1st ascents of previously unclimbed extreme high altitude summits – it is one for the history books as we are the only team who has ever been granted permission to climb in this area apart from a single Japanese expedition in 2016.And yes, I am carrying a Duffler! Why do you choose Duffler?

My Duffler goes with me everywhere; I could be away from home for as long as 8 months in a year on different projects in many locations & my Duffler carries all my important gear, electronics & emergency kit. I may use additional expedition bags, but the Duffler stays right by my side – solid, dependable, tough, durable & iconic.

I recommend Duffler to friends and colleagues because it’s individual, different, new, innovative, unique & instantly recognisable when your Duffler makes its way around the baggage carousel at the airport! It’s so much more than a ‘bag’ – it is a statement as to how you live your life, it is a community of globally aware travelling pioneers & it says to all that look, “I live my life & my life is adventure” -- whether it is for a weekend City Break or climbing in the Himalaya.
