Course Overview

For programme makers who are interested in learning about risk management techniques in television and film production.

This course is designed to give a broad overview of the health & safety issues to be considered when making programmes or films. The course will explain why health and safety is needed in production and give practical methods of how it should be managed.

Course Content 

The course concentrates on the practical aspects of safely managing a production:

Roles and responsibilities in programme making, both within the production team and those outside
The potential pitfalls of risk management and how these may impact upon the programme making process
Application of risk management principles using real-life case study examples
How to establish and maintain control through clearly defined occupational risk roles and responsibilities to

A broad overview of the risk management issues to be considered during the making of programmes, including hazard identification, risk assessment and good health and safety management
The opportunity to analyse and discuss the risk management techniques used on production including hazard identification and risk assessment
Discuss good health and safety management on location
Information about risk management policy and procedures, including how productions should interact with their contractors and others
To provide information about the legal framework

Qualifications

This course is recognised by Skillset and The Production Safety Group and is an approved course the industry recognised Production Safety Passport (PSP) scheme – On completion of the course, you will receive a Health and Safety Passport valid for 3 years.

Once completed, an individual’s level of health and safety training can easily be demonstrated through access to the database, without the need for additional evidence or verification.
